Welcome to the Parish Family of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, in the Township of Washington, Bergen County, New Jersey. We are a warm and welcoming community. Our goal is to create a family that makes everyone at home in the Catholic Church. Our Parish is a vibrant and growing community. Our website is designed to help you feel at home and want to join us in the service of Our Lord Jesus Christ. On behalf of the people of Our Lady of Good Counsel we invite you and welcome you to come and join us.

Our Parish was established on July 29, 1959 by Archbishop Thomas A. Boland, DD. It was formed to care for the growing needs of the people of Washington Township (latter changed to the Township of Washington) and parts of Westwood and Hillsdale. While the date of incorporation is important we might say the birth of the parish took place with the first Solemn Mass celebrated July 5th. 1959. The first mass took place in the auditorium of Washington School by the graciousness of the consolidated school district. The Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel was literally built by the parishioners. There was an old burned out barn on the property on Ridgewood Road purchased by the Archdiocese of Newark. The parishioners raised the new roof and built our little church (with the help of a few expert craftsmen) which celebrated its first mass on March 28, 1960.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish has continued the tradition of its founding on the principal that all are welcomed and all contribute to the building of the Church which is the Body of Christ.

As you go through the website you can get a sense of the people that are the community of OLGC. You will find our activities and ministries open to all and we hope you will come and join us.

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Rev. Raymond Rodrigue
Parish Administrator

Deacon Mr. Robert Glasner
